Before it can read anything
AutoScan is software. It talks to your car through an ELM327 adapter that plugs into the OBD2 port under the dashboard — USB is the most dependable on a Windows laptop, and Bluetooth works once it is paired. We no longer sell hardware, so buy whichever adapter you prefer; AutoScan works with any of them.

No. AutoScan itself, including the ABS, airbag and module scans, runs on Windows only. The phone apps are a bonus for quick reads where a laptop is awkward; some are older versions that the newest phones will not install, so please do not buy PLUS to use on a phone alone.
